The PH Factor

For the last few years, if you have been paying attention, you have heard something about PH and cancer can’t live in an alkaline environment. People run out to get green drinks and are in a constant battle to make their body alkaline. I was one of those. I had read so many reports about sufficating cancer cells and the more alkaline you are, the less likely you are to be sick. At first, I was like most of the population out that that believed this to be true. It wasn’t until I studied Dr. Carey Reams that I found the missing spoke to the wheel. I had tested my saliva PH on many occassions to see the yellow strip to black or a dark blue. My instant thoughts were, “I amcompletely alkaline and could never get cancer or sick.” Unfortunately, during this time, I had already had a hard time sleeping for almost a year and then started to have a hard time going out to eat. I had to stop eating gluten because all of a sudden, I was gluten sensitive. I didn’t sleep, my thoughts were either too slow in the day and very rapid at night. I didn’t sleep more than a couple of hours a night. You can imagine that not being able to eat or sleep was causing issues from my relationships to making decisions. I was, as my husband calls it, in a zombie state. Well, I didn’t feel like eating people but I was basically doing my daily tasks on autopilot. No expressions, no thoughts, just autopilot. Literally, being too alkaline was killing me but no one could figure out what was wrong.

I went to a conference in Dallas after my husband encouraged me to continue my natural health education. I signed up, thinking how much I would learn and hoped that I would have enough energy to retain the stuff I would learn. At this point, I had a self diagnosis of gluten issues caused by leaky gut and adrenal fatigue. I had searched and searched for answers, I could see all of those issue being a problem and still to this day, stand by that self diagnosis. However, I wasn’t fully convinced that all of a sudden, I just can’t eat gluten. Well, back to Dallas….the first day, we were going to talk about PH and Dr. Carey Reams. Here is what I learned, that I truly believe could help everyone. First let me give you a bit of background on Dr. Carey Reams and how he came up with this theory. Dr. Reams was a super smart guy. He did just about everything and being a gardener and scientist and pastor were three of the many things that he did. I’m not going to get into his back ground but if you want to know more just look him up. He is fascinating. So, Mr Reams planted a garden with the same seeds and in each section of the garden, the soil had a different PH, then he put in minerals in each soil at the different PH’s. When the veggies grew, he found out which minerals were absorbed into the plant to grow our veggies and would get in the veggies to get into us when we eat them. Follow me? The different PH’s were able to absorb different minerals. At 6.4, everything was absorbed. Not only that, there were no weeds and no pests. the further away from that, the more weeds and pests and the less minerals were absorbed. He thought, “I wonder if this is the same for people?” So the study began and people came to be all just like plants. Now before anyone gets bent out of shape about the blood PH needing be be a 7.35-7.45 or we die so the blood will take what it needs to balance….just calm down! I am not talking about blood. I am talking about the digestive PH in our bodies. I could get into the science of what ph needs to be what to do what, but I am doing this for the beginner, the person who many not even know what a PH is, so I am going to keep it simple. And the person, like myself, who was so tired that simple was better.

I did another saliva test and urine test at the conference. The results didn’t come out as black as it did previous but still a very dark blue. 8.0 saliva is what I had months before. This time it was 7.4 and my urine was 6.8. Dr. Reams seemed to think that if you do a saliva test, it was the an indication of what was happening from from liver to your mouth. This accounts for your stomach acid needing to be at 2-3 ph to break things down. If that saliva test was too alkaline, guess what your stomach doesn’t have? Enough stomach acid to break down your food. And your body just can’t absorb what it needs. At 7.4, I was missing all sorts of vitamins and minerals, including all of my vitamin B’s(your happy vitamins) as well as everything that keep the electricity in your body firing correctly. The biggest factor is the iodine that I couldn’t absorb to help my thyroid function.

So, I did take some supplements and ate all acidic but natural food. It only took me a week and a half to get my ph 6.4 for saliva and urine. That is definitely quick. Quicker than most people and it has stayed at this 6.4 since. Honestly, people are usually on a regimen of supplements for while to stabilize but I was a lucky one and I had a team of Naturopathic Doctors that had directed me on how to get there.

So why do I tell you all this?

Mainly, because all the stuff on Facebook can be misleading to the average person. I test everyone that comes in for wellness coaching, both urine and saliva. I would say more than 50 percent of my clients have at least one alkaline reading. But…I thought everyone is acidic(according to Facebook and Google). And they need to drink hot lemon water in the morning, get the alkalizing bottles to turn your water, and do shots of apple cider vinegar, while sitting in a baking soda bath.

People that are alkaline can have cancer

People that are alkaline can get sick

People that are alkaline will not digest food properly

People that are alkaline will not absorb nutrients properly

People that are alkaline can be depressed

People that are alkaline can have thyroid issue

People that are alkaline can have gluten issue

The list goes on of the health issues that can be related to this. I encourage you before loading up on green drinks and alkalizing things like hot lemon water and apple cider vinegar to make sure your saliva and urine are at 6.4. It horrifying to go through something such as I did when you think that you are doing everything right to help yourself. This is going to become a common health epidemic if it isn’t already and the funny thing is that the doctors will look at you, like they have many and say, I don’t know, take a pill. A pill won’t cut it on this one. You have to stop doing everything you read on Facebook.
